Apr 23rd 2010 A Young Female Needs Treatment for Her Manic Depression, For Her Drug Dependency and Alcoholism, and For Her Relationship and Dating Difficulties

Approximately two months ago I met a twenty-five-year-old woman named Rachael who is manic depressive and who is also dependent on alcohol and drugs. I remember reading that in such situations, a person needs to get treatment for both medical situations and that mental health issues and addiction commonly take place in the same person. Additionally, I recollect reading that a history of excessive and unhealthy drinking, drug abuse, and/or mental health problems quite often occur in the same family.

Evidently, Rachael is so dejected by both of her medical conditions and by her relationship and dating difficulties that she in effect has little or no drive to complete much of anything. What is particularly unfortunate about this is that earlier in her life, Rachael managed to complete two-and-a-half years of college. Rachael’s situation makes me wonder if she is an example of a person who has to hit the bottom of the barrel before he or she gets alcohol and drug dependency counseling that leads to lasting recovery.

The Need For a Doctor She Trusts and a Rehab Protocol She Can Believe In

If I were in communication with Rachael I could recommend quite a few websites and blogs that could possibly help her learn more about addiction and alcoholic behavior, significant substance abuse information, facts about alcoholism and drugs, information about addiction symptoms and alcoholism warning signs, and relationship info. In my honest opinion, nevertheless, Rachael needs to locate a physician she trusts and a rehab regimen she can believe in and follow over the long haul. I could be incorrect but it seems to me that Rachael more likely than not needs to accept the fact that she cannot drink in moderation or abuse drugs if she wants to get sober, remain sober, and start on the path to long-lasting recovery.

I am mindful that there are several newly produced doctor-prescribed drugs that can help Rachael through the alcohol and drug detoxification process, through her withdrawal symptoms, and help her avoid an alcohol or a drug relapse. Clearly it would be in Rachael’s best interests if she became familiar with these drugs.

It seems clear that Rachael needs to admit the fact that there is utterly nothing healthy about excessive and unhealthy drinking and substance abuse and that messing around with one or both situations is the path to poor work and school performance, shattered relationships, legal problems, financial difficulties, a premature death, and deteriorating health.

The Importance of Support Groups Like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous

There are reasonably numerous persons such as family members, friends, and other individuals who would want to help Rachael but she more likely than not would experience greater tolerance from a recovery group such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous rather than listening to people who drink just a few times per year or who have never taken drugs.

When Individuals Do Things They Love and About Which They Are Ardent

There’s a philosophical viewpoint that contends that people who do things they like and something about which they are zealous reach a breathtaking place in life. Stated more clearly, when people do what they enjoy, they almost never go through boredom or an uneventful life. If they involve themselves in something that is satisfying, what is more, they become more whole and experience more happiness and delight in life and in their relationships.

To me, this sounds like the exact opposite of a life that is grounded in alcohol and drug dependency because such a lifestyle removes the gratification and joy that life has to offer.

Because Rachael doesn’t have the grit to do much of anything in her life, it is evident that she urgently needs a little bit of hope for a better lifestyle. And the sad thing is that hope is virtually everywhere around Rachael if she could only get to the point in life to get the treatment she needs for her bipolar illness and alcohol dependency and drug addiction and adhere to her treatment program.

More Positive Relationships, Productive Change, Self Respect, and a Wonderful Life Are Possibilities

Rachael is simply too young to be overwhelmed in life. She doesn’t realize this right now but if she can learn how to abstain from alcohol and drugs through drug and alcohol rehabilitation and get the treatment she needs for her mental health condition, she can turn her life around and start living with direction, passion, and with self-respect.

Better relationships, a wonderful life, self respect, and positive change are certainly a reality for Rachael if only she could become inspired to get the professional rehab she needs, follow through with her therapy protocol, live her life in a sober and healthy manner, and acquire a more positive attitude about her life.

Apr 21st 2010 A Young Male Drinks Excessively, Gets Inspired to Get Treatment for Alcohol Addiction and Depression, and Experiences Augmented Dating Relationships in His Life

Stanley began drinking heavily when he was in the seventh grade. From a positive perspective, even though he drank abusively and excessively when he was a teen and a young adult, over the years he has been mostly a moderate drinker.

After he completed his education he eventually landed a job at a local water treatment facility where he worked his way up from stock person, to office assistant, to purchasing assistant, to purchasing manager. Unlike his other positions, as the purchasing manager he often took existing vendors and potential vendors to lunch and to various sporting events.

Alhough it was not written in concrete, meeting with potential vendors and existing vendors often involved situations in which alcohol was present. In actual fact, over the past sixteen months, Stanley had begun to significantly increase his social and his work-related drinking. This has led to quite a predicament. Namely, the more successful he became as a purchasing agent, the more he began to drink.

His Increasing Bouts of Depression Also Made Him Question if He Was Becoming an Alcohol Dependent Person

In actual fact, it didn’t take long at all before Stanley’s hazardous drinking started to affect his work efficiency, the money in his savings account, his health, his relationships, and his mental health. After many weeks of excessive drinking, Stanley, if truth be told, began to get concerned about his unhealthy and abusive drinking and questioned whether his alcohol related problems were alcoholism signs. Furthermore, his increasing bouts of depression also made him wonder whether he was becoming an alcohol addicted individual. In a word, Stanley clearly needed to learn more about the facts about alcohol abuse and alcoholism.

Stanley Needs Alcohol Detox and Alcohol Treatment For His Alcohol Dependency and Treatment For His Depression

So Stanley used his problem solving skills, called his healthcare practitioner, and made an appointment for a thorough physical examination. A week later after seeing his healthcare professional, Stanley unfortunately was told that he was an alcoholic. His healthcare professional told Stanley that he needed to get alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehabilitation for his alcohol dependency and that he also needed to get treatment for his depression. In a word, Stanley needed treatment for his alcoholism and depression.

Fortunately After His Treatment For Depression and For Alcoholism, He Felt Like a Different Person

His healthcare professional recommended to Stanley that he request a one-month leave of absence from work and get enrolled in a quality residential alcohol treatment facility where his depression could also be assessed and treated. This is precisely what Stanley did. The positive news is that after his treatment for depression and for alcohol dependency, he felt like a new person. In actual fact, now that he was sober he rarely got depressed and he now comprehended how to more productively and efficiently manage his relationships, his job, his finances, and his health.

To no one’s astonishment, the most difficult “test” Stanley encountered was at the office. More specifically, he still took potential vendors and his existing vendors to lunch and to various sporting events, but after his alcohol rehab he managed to stay away from drinking while entertaining his clients.

It may be noted that Stanley also found out that none of his existing vendors or potential vendors thought any less of him because of his non-alcoholic lifestyle. Alternatively, he discovered that his potential vendors and existing vendors respected him for staying strong to his convictions.

Stanley’s Better Finances, Health, Relationships, and the Better Work Performance He Experienced More Than Offset His Love of Drinking

After Stanley went through alcohol treatment, however, he learned that he was an individual who for whatever reason, couldn’t drink in moderation. In truth he found out the hard way that if he stayed away from drinking, all of the other significant parts of his life would be enhanced. At times, Stanley missed drinking, but the better work performance, health, finances, and the better dating relationships he experienced more than compensated for his love of drinking.

Apr 21st 2010 An Alcoholic Goes to Alcohol Rehabilitation, Gets Alcohol Detox and Treatment for His Depression and His Alcoholism, and Starts to Augment His Relationship With His Girlfriend

Barry used to talk big to his friends how he could work at a forty hour per week job and get drunk as a skunk virtually every night. Regrettably, after continuing this unhealthy lifestyle for around three-and-a-half years, he began to notice several alcohol related difficulties.

Barry Starts to Exhibit Numerous Alcohol Related Issues

As an illustration, he had a real difficult time getting up for work because he felt so sleepy when he awoke. Moreover, just about every morning Barry experienced a nasty hangover. It was clear that the mixture of his hangovers and his lack of get-up-and-go did not make it easy for him to get up and feel energized to go to work. To make things more difficult, roughly a week ago he got his second driving under the influence arrest in the past thirteen weeks.

To further complicate things, at his place of employment his last two work appraisals were less than adequate. And lastly, his six-year relationship with his girlfriend had worsened due to his depression, lack of patience, angry outbursts, and his financial difficulties.

Although Barry was only twenty seven years old, he simply started looking like he was in his mid forties. Sadly, this is what irresponsible and excessive drinking can do to a person. And in truth he knew that he was experiencing the adverse outcomes of alcohol dependency or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to give up his life to careless and irresponsible drinking. So initially he tried to drink responsibly and in moderation. Regrettably, he soon realized that he lost all control after having his first drink. Stated somewhat more forcefully, after his first drink he invariably proceeded to get intoxicated. Due to the fact that this was a circumstance that was repeated every time he went to a bar to drink, this obviously worried him a great deal. In fact, he started to wonder if he was displaying some of the signs of alcoholism and alcohol abuse.

Barry Decides Make an Appointment to See His Healthcare Professional

After going over his excessive alcohol ingestion and his excessive and unhealthy drinking with his girlfriend, he finally decided to make an appointment to see his healthcare professional. When Barry saw his physician, he genuinely confirmed that he has been abusing alcohol, that he may be displaying alcoholic signs, that he wants to refrain from drinking. He then mentioned that drinking responsibly and in moderation doesn’t work for him and, as a consequence, he wants to learn how he can create an alcohol-free lifestyle.

Barry also told his physician about his depression and how this mental health issue was negatively influencing his relationship with his lady friend. His healthcare professional referred Barry to Doctor Volpe, a drug and alcohol addiction psychologist, who persuaded Barry to enroll in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation facility as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol rehab. Fortunately, Barry would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this treatment center.

Getting and Staying Sober Was the Best Decision Barry Had Ever Made

After three months of comprehensive rehab, Barry left the residential treatment facility and continued his recovery via outpatient counseling and via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Inspired to change his life in a more productive manner, Barry went to a health store and bought some vitamins and a cookbook. He then joined a gym and started working out two or three times per week. Within seven months Barry was a new individual. He was eating nutritious meals, he wasn’t depressed anymore, he now looked younger than he was, he was in shape, and most important of all, he remained sober for several months. He also didn’t resort to angry outbursts, he became more patient, and he became a more compassionate person in his relationship with his girlfriend. Stated briefly, quitting drinking was the best decision Barry had ever made not only for relationship and health reasons, but also because he had finally learned how to be happy for the first time since he was a teenager.
