I have a theory about that. I think that part of the problem might be that American girls grow up being feed the whole knight in shinning armor idealism. I think it’s a cultural thing. Our girls grow up hearing the fairy tales and seeing unrealistic romantic comedies so they always except to be swept off their feet. They been programmed to expect guys to do all the work. Maybe this doesn’t happen as much in Europe which makes the women more practical about dating.

I agree. One of the things that bothers me about the so called liberated modern woman is that they want the benefits of liberation(I.E sexual freedom, career options etc) but they want none of the downside that comes with it. One of the downsides of being a liberated woman should be that you have to take the same risks that men have to take when it comes to initiating courtship. But as drakeboorer pointed out, American women who claim to be liberated refuse to do so.
