The ultimate goal is sex and getting that woman into bed and everything you do is focused on that goal. The nice chit chat and conversation is fine but you should be thinking of where it’s going. Getting a number or a kiss on the cheek is fine but if that is what you are focused on in the interaction that’s all you might get out of it.

He could have kept the chemistry flowing just a bit longer, told her she should tag along for a coffee or a bite to eat once they were both finished in the store. If she said no he could have got her number for the next time but if she agreed he could have taken her right there then out of the store to another location where he could continue the interaction, get more intimate, kiss her and take her to bed.
If there is scope 5there to escalate and escalate why not do it? Why wait til later?
