    @cymonebreathe im …
    @cymonebreathe im from england (london) so its different here, there are whites from the “ghetto” I think interracial dating between blacks and whites are more accepted here then in america but theres still similar issues surrounding it.

    I’m not against …
    I’m not against interracial relationships, im mixed and I dont mean half black half white I mean mixed mixed, BUT I dont like it when when couples get together just because of their race or they want their children to look a certain way, that upsets me I find it offensive, but I wouldn’t go around accusing people of being sell outs when I dont even know them

    @Peebies812 I see …
    @Peebies812 I see clearly what you’re trying to say.

  4. Peebies812 says:

    @ …
    @YoungBlackFeminists my point is that it’s underlying, deep rooted, and sub-concious. Otherwise, why the contradiction? Why “celebrate” that another race would want to be in a relationship with Black women? Why celebrate unless its being used as validation. No validation should be required. You follow me?

  5. YoungBlackFeminists says:

    @Peebies812 I think …
    @Peebies812 I think when Black women express that contradiction they are sort of celebrating the fact men of other races want to be in relationships with us and just happy for that woman. But I hear what you’re saying. I don’t think that way but I can see how it can be seen that way.

  6. Peebies812 says:

    If you see a Black …
    If you see a Black man with a White woman and you think “he’s a sellout for upgrading to a White woman” (makes you feel less) … in comparison to seeing a Black woman with a White man and think “get it girl” (makes you feel proud of an upgrade) .. then what youre saying to yourself subconciously (or maybe conciously) is “I’m not as good as a white person.” And that is NOT true.

  7. Peebies812 says:

    Dating a white …
    Dating a white person shouldn’t be a status symbol for people of color. If it does, you are allowing generations of racism to dictate your own self worth. This has to be what’s happening.

    @SocialistReign.i’m …
    @SocialistReign.i’m not saying your feelings aren’t personally hurt… or that the feelings of courage in the face of ‘metaphorical spits’ is also not personal. i’m SAYING the desire for such relationships and the possibility of their formation are both based on context, accessibility and socially constructed complexes abt the person ur dating. read my other comments for CONTEXT to what im saying

  9. SocialistReign says:

    @cymonebreathe
    It …

    @cymonebreathe
    It is personal! If I can’t walk down a street with my black husband with out getting metaphorically spit on, it is personal! Love does work that way.. If you’re not willing to get ‘spit on’ for someone you love, you don’t have a clue what love is. Love that has conditions is not love. If I love someone, I’m not going to let anyone take that away from me.

  10. YoungBlackFeminists says:

    @cymonebreathe You …
    @cymonebreathe You really don’t know how true and funny that is. Coming for the suburbs or a small town and meeting a handful of black people in your entire life. Knowing what you think you know about Black people from BET and MTV will mess some people’s head up and not prepare them for a rude awakening.

  11. YoungBlackFeminists says:

    @cymonebreathe I’m …
    @cymonebreathe I’m uploading video now about whether or not I should really discuss race on this channel or just create another one where we can have intimate discussion about what’s really going on in the Black community. Need your input on that video.

  12. cymonebreathe says:

    dating a white …
    dating a white person is a symbol of status for people of color, as such relationships (in the context of housing, school, and other forms of segregation in the United States) can only take place in middle or upper-middle class settings

    people in the ghetto don’t have access to “white persons” because they dont live there (duh). most whites meet their first black folks in college- a middle class setting.

  13. cymonebreathe says:

    @SocialistReign …
    @SocialistReign problem is y’all still thinking about tis on a purely personal, individual level…. and sorry to break it to you, but even love doesn’t work that way. there are certain conditions, just as YBF outlined that lend itself to certain relationships forming over others. that doesn’t take away, necessarily from the sincere feelings towards each other, but it certainly gives it a context.

  14. cymonebreathe says:

    And lemme just say …
    And lemme just say I definitely agree with you. Black women need to wise up, see the empire-building complex, and get with people who want us too. I hear you girl, there ain’t no more time tot be bitter. We need to love ourselves and find others who will love us.

    And this is coming from someone in love with a Turkish guy. I just think we need to all be aware of the complexes and structural conditions that produce these kinds of relationships and desires for these kinds of relationships.

  15. cymonebreathe says:

    @ …
    @YoungBlackFeminists girl, we cant talk about feminism without talking about racism. that’s the whole black feminist pedagogy.
    no need for apprehension. this is our reality. can’t change a thing till you see clearly.

    @cymonebreathe …
    @cymonebreathe That’s why I’m very apprehensive to talk about race on this channel. I don’t some people will get the seriousness of what I’m saying.

  18. cymonebreathe says:

    But, in a way, to …
    But, in a way, to be in solidarity with white women, I must let them know that under current conditions of racial oppression, white women represent empire and status to black men who date them and other men of color.

    Inter-racial dating is also pretty trendy right now. It’s everywhere and with all this liberal nonsense going around, people think the end of racism is biracial children. (I consider myself radical/far left).

  19. alowlyapprentice says:

    Leave!? I was never …
    Leave!? I was never there to begin with. I get stares and comments when I’m out with a white woman. Even though I did not grow up in “da hood” or around any black people at all, my extended family goes ballistic, so I don’t bring serious mates around them. Granted they don’t hold it against me. But they treat white women so poorly. My cousin married a white woman. They no longer come to reunions. It’s shameful.

    I’m glad you made this video.

    @ …
    @YoungBlackFeminists
    and in my opinion, it’s a wonderful thing!

  21. YoungBlackFeminists says:

    @SocialistReign I …
    @SocialistReign I couldn’t agree more. Its about respect and how a person treats you. Race is starting mean less and less when it comes to love.

  22. SocialistReign says:

    @ …
    @YoungBlackFeminists
    the stigma of a white woman and a black man, really doesn’t happen here, not nearly as often in the usa.
    I am sure I would feel uncomfortable with the looks I’d get there. I’d take the dirty looks, especially if I loved him. Colour means as much to me as shoe size. It’s how much brains they have that wins my heart!

  23. YoungBlackFeminists says:

    @SocialistReign I’m …
    @SocialistReign I’m past it and I think alot of other women are too. But I’m sure you’ll still get some dirty looks. Its a painful thing for many women.

  24. SocialistReign says:

    Thank you!!!
    God, …

    Thank you!!!
    God, you have no idea how scared I am to date a black man, because of how strongly some black women feel about it :(

    I have no problem with black women dating white men, it’s not like I consider them ours, you know?

    I’m glad I subbed you :)

  25. Flare400 says:

    I can certainly see …
    I can certainly see how some people would feel particular envy and betrayal if they perceive to have been passed over for someone of another ethnicity – congrats for making this great video for what is a rather thorny topic.

    Having people of different ethnicities not just tolerate one another but love one another to start a family is one heck of a positive thing!
