Well, just because you have never done so, does not mean other girls don’t. Every single girl that I’ve dated so far, has at one point of the relationship tried to check my text messages, etc. I guess it has something to do with power. The more power (money, status, etc) a man has, the more the girls become suspicious and the more they are scared of losing him.

In the end I think it all comes down to is the worth the time and money. Unless you’re lucky and you get a girl that actually almost 100% likes you for you and not your job and such. But I think those are a rarity, especially now. I don’t see anything wrong with it though, as long as theres no lying involved.
